Part 1 – Introduction to purpose
This part included live seminar #1, the dimensions of purpose, why purpose matters, identifying purpose-linked management and leadership issues. The first online seminar will familiarise the group with the definitions and perspectives currently in use for purpose in leadership and provide a framework for understanding and examining Purpose in organisational practice. It will also give participants a chance to get to know each other and share knowledge and experience.

Part 2 – Leadership
Where purpose meets leadership; defining what leadership is; leadership styles and theories that resonate with purpose; moving from sense-making to meaning-making.

Part 3 – Leading Organisational Purpose
Most of us encounter purpose as a question at work, and for work. In this part we look at start-ups and purpose, the business growth cycle, vision, mission and purpose, corporate values, leading organisational change and transformation.

Part 4 – Leading with a higher purpose
This part explores the connection between organisational and societal contexts in terms of purpose. We face new challenges and new opportunities, and business needs to lead the way, not merely respond, to these. From map-reading to map-making, this part closes with live seminar #2. The second online seminar will focus on the relationship between organisational purpose and context (industry, sector, society, and so on) and discuss practical ways for Leading with Purpose in the future.

An opt-in short, 1,000-word reflective assignment may be submitted for feedback from the tutor after the Course.
