Dr Chris Dalton

Associate Professor of Management Learning and module convener for Personal Development (PD), Henley Business School.

A dynamic and creative tutor, Chris joined Henley Business School in 2005 and was Programme Director for the Distance/Flexible Learning MBA until 2010, when he took over the PD role. His research is focused on the use of reflection in personal development in post-experience management education and leadership. His first book, The Every Day MBA, was published at the beginning of 2015 and his second, Brilliant Strategy for Business, in 2016. In 2019, he published MBA Day By Day and his latest title, The Integrated Leader: a Foundation for Lifelong Management Learning, was published in June 2021.

Chris has over 28 years of experience in management education and training, previously working at the Central European University Business School (and its predecessor, the International Management Centre) in Budapest, Hungary, where he was Director of their full-time and  modular MBA program. 

He teaches on the Henley Executive MBA and the DBA, and he runs corporate workshops and seminars related to management development in South Africa, central Europe and the Middle East. He is a visiting professor at Soka University, Tokyo, Japan, as well as regular contributor to Leadership programmes at the Clinton Institute of Queen’s University, Belfast.

Chris holds a PhD in Management Learning and Leadership from Lancaster University and an Executive MBA from Henley Business School. He is a certified coach and online tutor and has trained as a systemic constellations facilitator, regularly working with the public and private sector in facilitating team and organisational development, as well as reflective retreats. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

Dr James Blackmore-Wright

Assistant professor of leadership and strategy, Birmingham Business School

Dr James Blackmore-Wright is a coach, educator and researcher who specialises in the development of high-performing teams and leaders. James has over two decades experience of working with major brands and developing executive education programmes in Europe, Gulf States and across Southeast Asia.

He works with leadership teams to help them to use futures and foresight techniques to prepare their organisations for the “unimaginable events” that often become reality.

Hi research is focused on understanding how high-performing leaders can operate under immense pressure, without compromising their own wellbeing. A mental health advocate, he is passionate about changing the conversation about mental health issues in senior leadership teams.

James is an Assistant Professor in Leadership & Strategy at the University of Birmingham, blending insights from Management Science with a deep understanding of the opportunities and challenges that are faced by organisations operating in complex environments.

Dr Nicky Garsten

Associate Professor, Non-Profit and Business Communications, University of Greenwich 

She is a published author, speaker, academic reviewer, external examiner, and international awards judge on strategic communications. She is also a fellow of the Public Relations and Communications Associations (PRCA) and the Royal Society of Arts (RSA). 

She has a particular interest in bringing communications practice together with scholarship, co-creating recent MindthePRGap conferences, developing innovative enquiry-based learning assessments, bringing industry experts into learning environments and guiding pracademics.

Nicky previously had a career in healthcare journalism and ran the RNIB Press Office. She later became Associate Director at global top 10 PR consultancy, MS&L and then the interim Director of Comms at the Media Trust.
